Blue Blocks: December 2009

This is the first full quilt I ever made.  The blocks are fabric left over from making a duvet cover as well as some cute fat quarters I found.  The border and backing are made of upholstery fabric (this was a gift to my father and I thought he might be rough on it).  Instead of stitch quilting, I used yarn to put ties in the corners of the large blocks.

My first quilt was a single block based on a traditional Baltimore Album Quilt pattern.  Being me, however, I couldn’t use a traditional color scheme or fabrics.  Batiks!  Blues! Oranges!  Yellows!  This quilt always makes me think of the Inner Harbor Fireworks on the Fourth of July.
